daisy

We were recently approached by the London Cab Company of Brookvale and Ambient Advertising, a Sydney marketing group, to help create a very different and unique promotion for a Marc Jacobs “Daisy” perfume. The promotion had already run in the UK and involved wrapping two London cabs in astro-turf and then mounting signage and plastic daisies onto the “grass.”

This presented a couple of unique challenges – how to glue the turf to the cabs so it could be removed later without damage to the vehicles (and without falling off as the cabs drove around Sydney) and how to produce and attach the actual flowers and signage.

We came up with unique solutions to these problems. The cabs were first totally wrapped with a removable vinyl film. The turf was then cut to shape and glued to the vinyl with silicon.

The daisies were laser-cut from 3mm PVC, heated and curved by hand and painted in corporate colours. The centres of the flowers are actually gold buttons sourced on the internet. The finished daisies were simply cable-tied to the astro-turf before it was glued down and the laser-cut and painted acrylic lettering was attached through the turf to a backing board behind it.

The results were pretty spectacular, and turned heads for a few weeks around Sydney while the promotion was on.
